The horrendous crime which took place in the Kanjhawala area of Delhi, wherein a 20-year-old woman was dragged for 12 KMs from a car, is the talk of the town now. The Rohini court has sent the 5 culprits involved on a 3-day police remand. After the case came to the fore, the Delhi police has been receiving scathing comments for what appears to be a shoddy attempt at a coverup in the case. Before the relatives of the victim raised their voices for justice, and started asking valid questions, the police had registered a case of accident in the matter.

After the uproar, the Delhi police has started investigating the matter afresh after adding the section of culpable homicide not amounting to murder to the FIR.

On the other hand, the Aam Aadmi Party has been highlighting the involvement of a local BJP leader, Manoj Mittal in the crime. Mittal owns a ration shop in Sultanpuri. At the time when the car hit the woman’s scooter, Deepak Khanna was driving it, and along with him were Manoj Mittal, Amit Khanna, Krishna, and Mithun.

On Monday morning, angry people protested outside the Sultanpuri police station, and asked for justice for the deceased victim. The people who were involved in the protest demonstration also got involved in a skirmish with the police personnel. In the meanwhile, the car window of Rakhi, an AAP MLA who was present at the site, was broken. Delhi LG Vinay Saxena took stock of the matter from Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora.

Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal has asked for strict action against the culprits.

Closely monitoring the case, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has asked the Delhi police to form a team and investigate into the matter. In the meanwhile, the police are mapping the CCTVs on the basis of the culprits’ statements. Till now, 400 CCTV footages have been scanned, and the route maps of the victim and the culprits are being developed on the basis of mobile locations, so that the exact time of the crime can be detected.
