In a bid to do its part to ensure justice to the students who had appeared for the NEET UG 2024 entrance examination, the All-India Students Union (AISU) has filed a complaint with the Lokpal of India, regarding the rampant corruption and malpractices in the examination, and the declaration of its results, despite the alleged paper-leak.

The complaint by the AISU has been filed under the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013.

Highlighting crucial facets like the declaration of the results despite the complaints of the question paper having been leaked across many parts of the country; 67 students scoring a perfect 720 marks; high rank inflation; and improbable numbers of students scoring marks as high as 720 at one single centre in Haryana, etc., the AISU has requested the intervention of the Lokpal of India, and the required action to take place.

It is noteworthy that on June 13, 2024, the NTA conceded in the Supreme Court of India that 1563 students were awarded ‘grace marks’ due to a shortage of time; after which the Government of India has ordered the cancellation of the score-cards of the said students, and have asked the NTA to generate new scores for them, deducting the grace marks from their scores. An option for appearing for a re-examination has also been kept open for these students, not opting for which, their new scores will be considered for the further process of selection.
