Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik on Tuesday said that the Northeastern state has witnessed a remarkable journey of transformational growth and development since the last eight years.

“The transformation of Arunachal Pradesh and all states of the North-East is the result of the vision of our Prime Minister and the unstinting support from the Centre,” stated the Governor while presiding over the 38th Statehood Day celebration of the State at IG Park here.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar graced the occasion as the chief guest.

Parnaik said that the major achievements of the State have been constructions of enormous infrastructure enhancing road, rail and air connectivity, economic prosperity, inclusive development and poverty reduction during the last 8 years.

Conveying his heartfelt greetings and good wishes to each and every citizen of Arunachal Pradesh on the momentous occasion, he said the commitments of the state on the Statehood Day resonates with Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat achieving near complete saturation of central Yojanas, and is in sync with Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra.

The Governor appealed to the youth of the State, who he held are the future leaders, to strive to accomplish the dream of ‘Viksit Bharat’. He advised them to create a new work culture that would adhere to values, ethics and morals, and instill a deep-rooted pride in being Indian, not only in thought, but also in spirit, intellect and deeds as well as develop knowledge skills, values and disposition that support commitments to Human Right and well being.

Parnaik exhorted the youth of Arunachal Pradesh to orient their growth based on three basic principles ‘literate, disciplined and motivated’ that will make them good citizens and good leaders.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu, while talking about developmental journey of the State, said that owing to ‘blessings’ from the Centre, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Arunachal Pradesh could witness lots of development during the last 10 years – be it communication, agriculture, tourism sector, and we could see attainments in every sector.

Khandu said that in the northern belt of Arunachal Pradesh, which shares international boundaries with Bhutan (250 km), Tibet-China (1200 km) and Myanmar (550 km), developmental activities are taking place at a very fast pace. Under the Vibrant Villages Programme, the border areas are being developed with the collaborative efforts from the Central and State governments as well as the Indian armed forces.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said the transformative reforms in Arunachal’s infrastructure, connectivity and economic sector under the leadership of Chief Minister Khandu backed by constant guidance and support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, embodies the vision of a Viksit Bharat.

“Today’s Arunachal Pradesh has come a long way from its NEFA days, representing strong financial management and high capital expenditure, leading to robust GSDP growth. Our diverse ethnic cultures are our biggest assets, as we continue to harmoniously co-exist, demonstrating our unity in diversity,” he said.

“On the 38th celebration of our Statehood Day, we stand united in our commitment to compound the pace of inclusive development, focused on unlocking our immense potential by harnessing our natural resources, bridging connectivity barriers and preserving our cultural heritage. With our constant endeavours, we will continue to contribute significantly to New India’s growth story,” the Deputy CM said.

Union Minister of Earth Sciences and Arunachal Pradesh MP Kiren Rijiju also spoke on the occasion.
