Goa Chronicle: Tell us about the role of start-ups in this space of the textile industry?
Reommerce: Entrepreneurship has an important role in designing and implementing sustainable products. The role of start-ups should be clear about narrowing down the gaps in the existing model of practices. About more than 50% of textile waste is incarcerated in landfills, maybe not today, not tomorrow but there will be one sunrise where we won’t be having a green future and have to accept the harsh truth. This is high time we solve old problems with the latest and tech-driven solutions better than young minds. There is a need to develop scalable and profitable business models to protect the massive environmental issue created by urbanization. Start-ups operating in the space of the textile industry can bring the much-awaited change in the field of sustainability. They can bring awareness related to issues that are not visible to the naked eye but can affect the whole body tomorrow. For start-ups operating in this space, creating a community of members about CSR and sustainability practices is essential.
Goa Chronicle: What was the vision behind starting recommerce?
Recommerce: The “Recommerce” is the brand of URDHVA MANAGEMENT PVT LTS was incepted in Jan 2018, with a boldly rational vision to build an entire ecosystem to aptly manage recyclables generated by every industry. Foreseeing the need to make the entire industry organized, we have been hosting a B2B in one Exhibitions & Conferences focused on Repair, Refurbishing, Recycling, Waste Management, and circular economy which served as a platform for interaction with the stakeholders (private and public companies along with government bodies). Our platform Recommerce committed to offering recycling solutions to make the world a more sustainable place. Our mission is to create a positive impact on the ecosystem every single day.
What are we addressing?
- Lack of transparency, no straightforward interface between buyers and sellers
- To understand the waste generation trends
- Lack of standard pricing mechanism
- To create the proper disposal mechanism among individual consumers and households
- The majority of waste streams are managed by the unorganized sector
We have a five-way approach, Engage, Exchange, Educate, Enable, and Empower.
Recommerce has successfully organized 15+ Conferences and exhibitions in different industries with the clear objective to bring in the best practices by keeping the environment at the focal of every solution.
Hopefully, Recommerce will bridge the communication gap and make our ecosystem healthier for our upcoming future generations.
