Countdown begins for GSLV-F15/NVS-02 mission

Chennai: The 27 hr countdown for tomorrow’s historic GSLV-F15/NVS-02 Mission, marking ISRO’s 100th Launch from the spaceport of Sriharikota, began on Tuesday morning.

ISRO sources said the countdown for the launch began at 0327 hrs.

NVS-02 is Navigation Satellite and second in the series of NavIC constellation.

The GSLV-F15 will take off from the Second Launch Pad (SLP) at 0623 hrs tomorrow
morning.

During the Countdown propellant filling operations will be carried out in the three stage vehicle, including the indigenous cryogenic third stage.

“‘GSLV-F15 integration complete! Take a sneak peek at the incredible teamwork behind
this mission: Join us as we unlock new frontiers,’ ISRO said.

This launch will herald yet another significant milestone as it marked the100th mission for
ISRO from the spaceport of SDSC-SHAR, Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh tomorrow morning.

“The 50.9 m tall three stage vehicle, with the indigenous cryogenic stage, and with a lift of mass of 420.7 tonnes, carrying NVS-02 Navigation Satellite, will lift off from the Second Launch Pad at 0623 hrs on January 29 morning”, it said.

NVS-02 will provide Advanced India’s Regional Navigation Capabilities as part of NavIC series.

NVS-02 is the second in the series of Navic satellites. Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) is India’s independent regional navigation satellite system designed to provide accurate Position, Velocity and Timing (PVT) service to users in India as well as to region extending about 1500 km beyond Indian land mass.

After a flight duration of 19 minutes, the 2,250 kg satellite will be injected into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) at an altitude of 320 km with a perigee of 170 km and an apogee of 36,577 km with a inclination of 20.79 deg.
