Couple among 4 of nomad family killed as tree falls on them in J&K’s Kishtwar

Jammu: The four members of a family including couple were killed when a tree fell on them due to inclement weather conditions in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“At about 3 am, fours persons of a nomad family were killed when a tree (Kail) fell on them while they were sleeping,” Khalil Poswal, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kishtwar said on Thursday.

He stated that the tree fell due to heavy rains and wind (natural calamity).

The deceased were identified as Nazir Ahmed,55, son of Chittra Bakerwal, His wife Anzara, 42, daughter-in-law, Shama Bano,18, and one Shakila, 26, daughter of Chiddya Bakerwal.

All were residents of Barwal Ghatti, district Kathua.

The SSP said that the police team reached the spot.

Legal proceedings have been set into the motion while more details are awaited, said the officer.
