Delhi Police recommends cancellation of POCSO case filed against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh

Telling the court that no corroborative evidence has been found against former WFI Chief, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, in the case of him allegedly sexually assaulting a minor wrestler, the Delhi Police has recommended the cancellation of the POCSO case filed against Singh. The Delhi Police apprised the court that the cancellation report was submitted by them to the court based on the statements of the girl’s father and her own.

The court has now put up the matter for further consideration on July 4, 2023.

It was on April 28, 2023 that the Delhi Police had filed two FIRs against Singh at the Connaught Place police station. After the allegations were put on the former WFI Chief, he had said that he will hang himself even if a single allegation put against him proved to be true.

Now, after this big move from the Delhi Police, the Congress has alleged, “The cry for justice of India’s daughters has been consigned to the dustbin and buried by the Modi government”.

“The BJP’s new slogan is ‘Beti Darao, Brij Bhushan Bachao’”, stated Congress General Secretary, Randeep Surjewala. Calling the day when the Delhi Police cited lack of corroborative evidence, a ‘Black Day’ for sports in the country, Surjewala alleged, “The entire government apparatus has been pressed into service to save Bhushan, who has been accused of sexual exploitation by women wrestlers”.

Taking to Twitter, the Congress GS also expressed, “Today, the law of the land has been crumbled and crushed under the bulldozer of BJP’s politics”.
