Srinagar: The maiden E-cart pick and drop vehicle service for the passengers started at Srinagar International Airport on Saturday.

Director Airport Srinagar Javed Anjum flagged off the E-cart vehicle service at the drop gate. Anjum took over the charge from Kuldeep Singh Rishi on Saturday.

The E-cart vehicles will ferry passengers from the entry gate to the terminal building with their baggage and pick the passengers from the exit arrival till the drop gate free of cost.

The passengers can now leave their vehicles at the drop gate and then directly put their luggage on the X-ray machine and board the E-cart which will take them to the main terminal building along with their baggage free of cost.

Paid potters service was also made available at the drop gate for carrying luggage of the passengers.

The facility has been introduced on an experimental basis with four numbers of environmentally friendly E-carts being put on service and the number likely to be increased accordingly after receiving good response from the public, they said.

With the introduction of these E-cart vehicles 40-50 percent passengers are likely to use the service which will save their time to the great extent.

Director Airport Authority Srinagar Javed Anjum after inaugurating the E-cart service said that he will carry forward the good work already done by his predecessor.

“I think Kuldeep Singh Rishi has done a great job here and whatever issues he has briefed me will definitely try to resolve them and try to make this Airport very smooth and passenger friendly”, he told media persons on the occasion.
