New Delhi: Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri on Saturday said the Modi Government has ensured development and prosperity in a true sense in the last 9 years.

Highlighting the Centre’s several initiatives in the last nine years, the Minister said from infrastructure development to easing the lives of the people, New India has come a long way.

“The impacts of the schemes like Swachh Bharat, Ujjawala, AMRUT, to name a few, are visible,” he said while addressing the media at BJP headquarters in New Delhi.

The Minister said India has seen an unprecedented transformation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and become the world’s fifth-largest economy.

Calling the era of UPA as “policy paralysis” the Minister said that during the years of the previous UPA government, the political decision-making was by and large characterised by inaction and policy paralysis.

“At that time, there was no focus on development in the country and India was one of the ‘Fragile-Five’ economies,” he said.

Over the other initiatives, he said, “India’s economy was such that it was counted in the fragile five till the year 2014 and the economy was in tenth position in the global ranking. But now the situation has changed”.

The Minister asserted that India will be a developed nation by 2047.

Puri said during the COVID-19 period, India not only made 220 crore vaccines but also distributed them properly besides providing the vaccines to other countries.

The Minister highlighted the achievements of the government in different sectors saying till 2014, only 74 airports were operational in the country but in the last 9 years, the Government has operationalised 74 airports in a short period.

“The impacts of the schemes including Swachh Bharat, Ujjawala and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation are clearly visible” he added.
