Cairo: The Egyptian Ministry of Military Production on Monday presented the first homegrown multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) called Raad 200 or Thunder 200.

The weapon was demonstrated on the first day of the international defense industry exhibition EDEX 2023, taking place in Cairo from December 4–7, according to the ministry.

The Raad 200 is a rocket launcher mounted on a tracked armored vehicle, with a top speed of 45 kilometers per hour (28 miles per hour).

Earlier in the day, Egyptian Minister of Military Production Mohamed Salah El-Din told the Al-Ahram newspaper that the project had been developed and implemented in cooperation with several companies owned by the ministry, with the share of local components in the MLRS at over 65%.

The firing range of the first Egyptian MLRS is about 400 kilometers.
