Elections for Legislative council teachers and graduate constituencies postponed: EC

Mumbai: The Election Commission of India has announced the election of the Maharashtra Legislative Council for Teachers and Graduate Constituencies, and the polling process that was to be held on June 10, 2024, has been postponed.

However, the Commission received representations from teacher organizations regarding holding these elections after the school summer vacation period.

According to the Election Commission of India, considering this demand, the Maharashtra Legislative Council has postponed the biennial elections of teachers and graduate constituencies.

Vilas Vinayak Potnis from the Mumbai Graduate Constituency, Niranjan Vasant Dawkhare from the Konkan Graduate Constituency, Kishore Bhikaji Darade from the Nashik Teachers Constituency, and Kapil Harishchandra Patil from the Mumbai Teachers Constituency are retiring from the Maharashtra Legislative Council on July 7, 2024.

Hence, the election program was announced for 2 teacher constituencies and 2 graduate constituencies, the statement added.
