Under the visionary leadership of the Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yoga has emerged as a global force for well-being, peace, and unity. Goa proudly joined this global celebration on the 11th International Day of Yoga with an inspiring state-level event held at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Bambolim. Honourable Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant led thousands of participants in celebrating the International Day of Yoga.

This year’s theme, ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’, highlights the deep connection between individual well-being and the health of our planet. The Chief Minister praised Prime Minister Modi’s pivotal role in bringing Yoga to the world stage. The CM noted that Yoga offers not just physical fitness but also mental clarity and emotional balance, qualities essential in today’s fast paced world.

He shared details of ten key initiatives launched by the Government of India to promote Yoga, including mass demonstrations, international partnerships, community wellness spaces, and the integration of Yoga into healthcare. Goa has actively participated through events in schools, colleges, local bodies, and government institutions.

The Chief Minister thanked organisations such as the Art of Living, Patanjali Yog Samiti, Brahmakumaris, Isha Foundation, Ambika Yog Kutir, and the Bharat Swabhiman Trust for their dedicated efforts in spreading awareness and encouraging public participation.

Dr. Sawant also highlighted Goa’s commitment to holistic health, including the establishment of the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) at Dhargal, the upcoming AYUSH centre in South Goa, and the creation of the Tapoloka Yog Bhoomi, a serene space for Yoga in nature.

Sharing his personal experience, Dr. Sawant said that Yoga helps him stay centred, calm, and focused. He urged every family to dedicate time each day to Yoga and encouraged schools to make it a part of daily routine.

In his concluding remarks, the Chief Minister said, ‘India is the birthplace of Yoga, and under the leadership of the Honourable PM Narendra Modi, it has become a global gift. Let us make Yoga not just a practice, but a way of life. One Earth. One Health. One Humanity.’
