IED found on NH in Jammu’s outskirts, destroyed

Jammu: The experts of the Bomb Disposal Squad destroyed an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) found along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in the Nagrota area here in the city outskirts early Tuesday morning.

The police team rushed to the spot late after getting information about a suspicious object found lying on the highway near Nagrota.

“The suspicious object found at Panjgrain Nagrota, Jammu, was an improvised explosive device,” Chandan Kohli, Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu, said.

He said that the IED had been destroyed by the technical team of the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) through a controlled mechanism.

“A case under relevant sections of law has been registered, and an investigation has been taken up,” he added.

However, panic triggered in the surrounding villages while the traffic was also suspended briefly, which was resumed later.
