Panaji: A day after former minister Michael Lobo scoffed at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, Goa Congress President Amit Patkar hit back alleging illegally converted lands which are now reverted back to its original status by Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department shows the work of Lobo.

“He (Mr Lobo) has seen Mahatma only on Currency Notes. He needs to read books to understand the contribution of Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi in nation building. RahulGandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra is for United India,” Patkar said.

“I want to make him understand that BJP Government in Goa robbed the peoples mandate. They have done a day light dacoity of the votes given to Congress Party by the Goans. BJP did not get votes from the 67 percent people,” Patkar claimed.

“If he could get votes on his own with his so called work, why Michael Lobo and his wife contested on Congress ticket? Why they did not contest as Independents? Why they did not show guts to resign and re-contest election on BJP ticket?,” questioned Patkar.

“Our leader Rahul Gandhi’s “Bharat Jodo Yatra” is to unite India. BJP needs to answer issues raised by Rahul Gandhi on unemployment, price rise and divisive poltics. Lakhs of Indians are walking with Rahul Gandhi everyday. This has sent jitters to BJP camp,” the Congress leader claimed.

Lobo, a former Leader of Opposition, on Monday a “march-past” will not fetch votes for Congress but working for the people like PM Narendra Modi will do.
