In coming days, will ensure zero terrorist recruitment; save lives of people: DGP R R Swain

Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain Tuesday said that in the coming days, police will ensure that no terrorist recruitment takes place and the lives of people are protected.

Talking to reporters after chairing a high level security review meeting of police, army, CRPF, BSF and other security agencies in southern district of Anantnag, DGP Swain said such meetings are held to finalise a plan for the safety and security of common masses.

“In such meetings, we deliberate on how to maintain better synergy and coordination. We also discuss measures to protect the lives of common people,” Swain said. He said in the coming days, police and other security forces will ensure that no local boy joins the terrorist recruitment so that lives remain safe.

“We will also reach out to the misguided youth and motivate them to return. If they return, we will receive them with love and hand them over to their parents,” the DGP said. He said that those who have made their mind not to return or are working for money will face strict action.

The DGP also said that police will consider any sort of communication or interaction with the Pakistan based handlers and anyone back home as “a crime.” “We will act very hard against such people,” the J&K police chief said.

Meanwhile, a police spokesman said that DGP RR Swain visited Anantnag district to assess the security situation and held a meeting with the officers. “The visit aimed to review the security measures in the district and discuss necessary enhancements to ensure the safety of the area,” the statement said, adding that during the visit, DGP engaged in an interactive sessions with Police, CAPFs, Army and intelligence officers at DPO Anantnag.

“The discussions provided an opportunity for the DGP to evaluate the challenges faced by the security forces,” he said. “The DGP also met with various administrative and intelligence officers to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the security scenario in Anantnag. The discussions revolved around the prevailing security challenges, the effectiveness of counter-terrorism efforts and the progress made towards maintaining Public order in the district.”

The spokesman said that the meeting was convened during the DGP’s visit, where strategies to tackle any possible security threats were deliberated upon. “The meeting involved the participation of high-ranking Police, CAPFs , Army officers and intelligence agencies. The primary objective was to ensure a coordinated and proactive approach in dealing with security issues to safeguard the peace and stability of District Anantnag,” he said.

The spokesman said that the DGP emphasized the need for robust intelligence networks, regular training programs, and equipping the Police force with modern technologies to effectively counter any emerging security threats. “The DGP stressed on the importance of community Policing and maintaining a strong bond between the police and the general public to foster trust and cooperation,” he said, adding that overall, the DGP’s visit to Anantnag served as an opportunity to assess the security situation, brainstorm effective strategies, and boost the morale of Police officers and security personnel.

“The aim was to create a conducive environment for development and peace in the district, ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents,” the spokesman said.

He said that besides DGP Swain, ADGP law order (J&K) Shri Vijay Kumar, IGP Kashmir V. K Bridi, JD IB Srinagar PK Thakem, IG KOS CRPF G.K Verma Commander 1st Sector RR PR Chowhan, DIG SKR Rayees Mohammed Bhat, DIG CRPF OPS Anantnag K.S Deswal, SSP Anantnag Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, SP Awantipora Aijaz Ahmad Zargar and other Police, CAPFs and Army officers were also present in the meeting.
