IndiGo announces a tri-weekly direct flight between Hyderabad and Madinah

Hyderabad: IndiGo, which is amongst the fastest-growing low-cost carriers in the world, on Thursday announced the launch of a new direct service between Hyderabad and Madinah, commencing February 20, 2025.

The airlines said in a release that this new route marks IndiGo’s 38th international and 128th overall destination.

The airline operates over 190 daily departures connecting 65 domestic and 15 international destinations from Hyderabad.

Madinah is a significant destination for pilgrims undertaking Hajj and Umrah.

The three-times-weekly service will provide convenient and affordable travel options for pilgrims and other travellers visiting this revered city.

Talking about this development, Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales, at IndiGo, said, “The launch of the Hyderabad-Madinah route is more than just expanding our network; it opens a vital gateway for religious and cultural exchange. By commencing direct flights to Madinah, a major Islamic pilgrimage site, we aim to simplify travel within the region and beyond. With the launch of this flight, IndiGo will now operate over 100 weekly flights to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from India.”

Hyderabad, a vibrant metropolis in southern India, is renowned for its rich history, delectable cuisine, and thriving technology industry.

Beyond its historical significance, Hyderabad is also a major center for commerce, education, and information technology, contributing significantly to India’s economic growth.

Madinah holds immense spiritual significance and is home to the Prophet’s Mosque, Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, which houses the tomb of the Prophet Muhammad.

Beyond its religious significance, Madinah also offers a glimpse into the rich history and culture of Islam, with numerous historical sites and museums that showcase the city’s heritage.

The schedule may be subject to change depending on approvals from regulatory authorities.

The introduction of these flights will further bolster the airline’s international connectivity.
