Srinagar: A foreign militant was killed as the Army foiled an infiltration bid in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

They said the bid was foiled in Sudpora near Line of Control in Kupwara and a search operation in the area is still underway.

“One foreign terrorist (has been) killed in Sudpora near LoC in Kupwara,” a police spokesman said, adding incriminating materials including arms and ammunition was recovered.

“Search is going on,” the spokesman added.

The identity and the group affiliation of the slain could not be established immediately.

Defence officials say that militants always step up efforts to sneak into the Valley from across as it becomes difficult for them to enter after snowfall.
