J&K: Encounter breaks out between terrorists, security forces in Kulgam district

Srinagar: An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday, officials said.

They said the encounter erupted when joint forces launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in the Kadder area following an input about militant presence.

“The CASO turned into an encounter when hiding terrorists opened fire,” officials said, adding that the operation is underway.

Police and security forces are on the job, they said, and added further details will follow.

“Encounter has started at Kadder area of Kulgam district. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow”, police said in a tweet on X.
