Milma inks pact with NDDB CALF for running State Central Quality Control Lab

Kochi: Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF), known by the brand Milma, has signed a pact with NDDB CALF Ltd. for managing its newly-commissioned State Central Quality Control Lab situated at Ernakulam.

Milma’s State Central Quality Control Lab which is located at Ernakulam Regional Cooperative Milk Producers Union (ERCMPU) headquarters at Edappally, was constructed with the Central Government’s aid of around Rs 10 crore.

The Lab is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for analysing all food products, cattle feed, and mineral mixtures, a release said on Thursday.

As per the agreement, Milma will hand over the management of the operations of the Lab to NDDB (National Dairy Development Board) CALF Ltd. for a period of 10 years.

The pact comes on the heels of the discussions held between Milma and CALF Ltd about managing the operations of the Lab.

NDDB CALF Ltd. Managing Director Rajesh Subramaniam and Milma Managing Director Asif K Yusuf IAS signed the agreement in the presence of NDDB Chairman Dr Meenesh C Shah; Milma Chairman K S Mani and Ernakulam Regional Union Chairman M T Jayan at NDDB, Anand in Gujarat, on July 18.

KCMMF set up the State Central Quality Control Lab on the premises of ERCMPU headquarters with financial support from Government of India under the National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD) Scheme.

NDDB CALF Ltd will run the Lab on par with global standards with its technical expertise and secure necessary accreditations, apart from making this lab a referral laboratory for FSSAI and BIS.
