Washington: The headquarters of US private aerospace company SpaceX will be moved to the new city of Starbase in Texas from California, owner Elon Musk said on Friday.

Musk made a repost on X with the text of a letter that SpaceX had sent to a local judge requesting an election to give its Starbase construction and space launch site in south Texas the status of a separate city. The base was reportedly home to several hundred of the company’s employees.

“SpaceX HQ will now officially be in the city of Starbase, Texas!,” Musk said on X.

SpaceX has multi-billion-dollar contracts with the Pentagon and NASA.
