Kolkata: Tension ran high in the Anadapur area in east Kolkata after an unidentified woman’s mutilated body was recovered near the EM Bypass on Wednesday morning, official sources said.

The recovery of the body comes amid a public outcry over the recent murder of a doctor in a city hospital and demands for better security for women.

In the case of the Anandapur victim, there were injury marks on the body which was recovered from a thick bush close to the busy bypass, police said.

Local residents alleged the woman, yet to be identified, might have been murdered elsewhere and thrown here in the morning.
