Over 100 people attend multi-specialty health camp organised in Velim

Over a 100 people attended a multi-specialty health camp, organised by BJP Velim Mandal and BJP Medical Cell in association with Manipal Hospital and Thomas Seva Foundation with support from the Imperial Hospital, Goa at the Baradi Government Primary School in the Velim constituency.

The medical camp was inaugurated by BJP Medical Cell Convener and Onco-surgeon, Chief Department of Oncology, Manipal Hospital, Goa, Dr Shekhar Salkar in the presence of BJP Spokesperson and Velim Leader, Savio Rodrigues, BJP Velim Mandal President Saroj Motte, BJP Velim Mahila Morcha President, Myrtle Rodrigues, and Dr Sophia Rodrigues, Gynaecologist, Manipal Hospital along with Dr Shirley Rodrigues, Dr Clarice Monteiro, Dr Sneha Bhagwat, Dr Malika Prabhudesai and Dr Priyanka Raikar.

Speaking at the medical camp, Savio Rodrigues, BJP Spokesperson expressed, “BJP Velim Mandal believes in the philosophy ‘eat well, sleep well and live well’ therefore we decided to hold a multi-specialty medical camp so that Velim constituents could know their fitness level and endeavour to stay healthy. Moreover, having the medical camp coincide with the national programme planned to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday helps us to spread a good word about the work done by the state and Centre for the people in healthcare”.

Dr Shekhar Salkar, in his talk to the people present at the medical camp explained the importance of early detection of Brest cancer in women. He said, “It is important to detect cancer at the onset. Therefore, a medical camp gives people an opportunity to learn about certain illnesses and take necessary health-related precaution and measures”.

Furthermore, Dr Salkar expressed his immense appreciation for the BJP Velim Mandal team led for their dedicated, devoted and determined work for the people of the Velim constituency even though people from Velim have not voted for BJP.

Dr Shekhar Salkar and all the visiting doctors were presented with mementos from the Velim Ecological Solutions and Green Waves Environmental Solutions branded special ‘Modi Collection’ of ecofriendly notepads, plantable seed pencils and seed balls handmade by the 79 women from the Velim constituency.

BJP Velim Mandal President, Saroj Motte spoke on the importance of health and the need for the people who attended the medical camp to create awareness about what they have learned at the camp and also informed that the BJP Velim Mandal plan to conduct all across the Velim constituency.

Public Relations Officer, Jones Samuel from Manipal Hospital was the co-ordinator for the camp.
