These days, youth cannot be found in the USA, for the skilled jobs like those of a carpenter, electrician, or a plumber. In addition to this, the children of people who have been doing these jobs traditionally, are now looking forward to white-collar jobs after they complete their graduation. As a result, such posts remain vacant. This situation has emerged when in 2021, offers of annual payments of 40 to 60 lakh rupees have been made for these jobs.

As per the numbers of online recruiting platform, Handshake, in 2022, as compared to 2020, there has been a 495 downfall in the number of youths seeking technical jobs like plumbing, building, and electrical work. Back in 2020, 10 applications were received on an average for the posts like automotive technicians, appliance installers, and respiratory therapists, which have reduced to a mere 5 in 2022.

A mere 19 applications have been received for all the jobs, whereas new technical posts are increasing by the day, but the number of students who would be interested to apply is not going up. It is being said that for a long time, the students in the USA, rather than learning skills, were motivated to go to colleges, after the completion of which, they prefer doing white-collar jobs more.

There is an immediate need to fill the vacant posts because the American government is spending billions of dollars in the projects to upgrade the road and transit systems in the country, despite which, people are not coming up for the same.
