Srinagar: Police on Friday arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession in Jammu Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Police set up a check point at Waripora, where they intercepted a vehicle carrying Mushtaq Ahmad Handroo, a resident of Boat colony Anantnag.
During searching police were able to recover 3 Kg of Poppy Straw like contraband substance from the said vehicle.
Investigations revealed that Handroo is involved in drug peddling, promoting an illegal menace and luring youth towards drug addiction.
Handroo was arrested and sent to jail, police said. The vehicle used in commission of crime has also been seized.
A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act stands registered at Police station Kund and further investigation is in progress, they added
