Tashkent: Preeti Jhangiani, President of the People’s ArmWrestling Federation India (PAFI), etched her name in history by becoming the Vice-President of the Asian ArmWrestling Federation.

The announcement was made at the Asian ArmWrestling Federation Congress held here, during the World Arm Wrestling Cup.

In a unanimous vote, Preeti secured the position with the backing of all the countries present at the Congress, marking a significant milestone for the sport in India and Asia.

As a result, she now joins the executive council of the Asian ArmWrestling Federation, a recognition of her tireless efforts to promote the sport across the region.

The Congress was graced by several distinguished dignitaries, including World Arm Wrestling Federation President Assen Hadjitodorov, Asian ArmWrestling Federation President Dhzeenbek Mukambetov, World Arm Wrestling Federation General Secretary Mircea Simionescu-Simicel, and Asian ArmWrestling Federation General Secretary Ahmed Aliyev.

Preeti has long been an advocate for the growth of ArmWrestling in India, having worked closely with state governments and sports associations nationwide. Under her leadership, PAFI has successfully organised various state championships and mega matches, in partnership with the Pro Panja League, fostering both the sport’s development and its increasing fan base.

Over recent years, ArmWrestling has experienced significant growth, both in terms of professional athletes and fan following. This expansion is largely attributed to the efforts of PAFI, led by Preeti, whose dedication has earned her the prestigious Vice-President role within the Asian ArmWrestling Federation.

Expressing her excitement about the new position, Preeti said, “Feeling blessed to have this opportunity and represent India at the world stage. I promise to work hard and do everything in my control to ensure India’s ArmWrestling community gains even more recognition and popularity. This is a great chance for us to collaborate with other Asian countries and improve the quality of the sport together in the continent.”
