Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold talks in Moscow on Wednesday with Chad’s interim President Mahamat Idriss Deby, who arrived in the Russian capital on an official visit the day prior.

None of the presidencies of the two countries shared much detail about the agenda of the meeting, saying only that it would touch upon the prospects for the development of bilateral ties in various fields, as well as some regional and international issues.

This is Deby’s first visit to Russia. Experts point to the fact that Chad is the only remaining Sahel country with a French military presence following coups in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, all three of which strengthened ties with Russia after evicting French troops.
