Saif Ali Khan attacked with knife at his home, admitted in hospital

Mumbai: Renowned Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was hospitalised after being stabbed by an intruder at his and actress Karina Kapoor’s Bandra residence in Mumbai.

Khan suffered serious injuries after been attacked at his Mumbai residence by a thief.

The incident occurred at around 2 am on Thursday when the actor was sleeping in his house along with his other family members.

According to Dr Neeraj Uttmani, chief operating officer of Lilavati Hospital, Saif was brought to the hospital at 3.30 pm.

‘He has six wounds out of which two wounds are very deep. We’re working on it. The surgery was performed by neurosurgeon Nitin Dange and cosmetic surgeon Leena Jain,’ the medical team said.

Mumbai police confirmed that an unidentified person intruded at his home, and the actor had a scuffle with them. It was during this that the actor was injured. The matter is currently under investigation.

A team of Bandra police and the crime branch has reached the spot, and an investigation is on.

A senior IPS officer said that several police teams have been formed to trace the thieves and FIRs are also being registered.

As per a statement by the actor’s team, there was an attempted burglary at his Bandra residence.

“There was an attempted burglary at Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently in the hospital undergoing a surgery. We request the media and fans to be patient. It is a police matter. We will keep you updated on the situation,” the statement read.
