SFs launch search operation after terrorist attack on bus in J&K’s Reasi

Jammu: Security Forces on Monday morning launched a massive search operation following a terrorists attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Ten pilgrims were killed and 33 injured when a bus on its way from Shiv Khori shrine towards Katra was attacked by terrorists and it plunged into a gorge at Kanda Morh near Ransoo on Monday evening.

“A joint team of Indian Army, Police and Special Operation Group with the first light launched a search operation near the site of incident and the adjoining areas to track down the terrorists,” official sources said.

They said that drones are also being used to locate the hidden terrorists in the forest area.

The bus was ferrying the pilgrims, who were from outside the Jammu and Kashmir and returning to Katra town after paying obeisance at the Shiv Khori shrine.

The driver lost its control on the vehicle due to attack and it fell into a gorge.

The injured are being treated at different nearby hospitals and some are rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha condemned the attack and assured action against those behind it.

“I strongly condemn the cowardly terror attack on a bus in Reasi. My condolences to the family members of the martyred civilians. Our security forces and JKP have launched a joint operation to hunt down the terrorists,” the LG said in a post on X.

“PM Narendra Modi Ji took stock of the situation and has asked me to constantly monitor the situation. All those behind this heinous act will be punished soon. PM has also directed that all the injured are provided the best possible medical care and assistance,” added Sinha.
