New Delhi: IT service major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Monday said that the consortium led by it has received an advance purchase order valued over Rs 15,000 crore from public sector BSNL for deployment of 4G network across India.
“The consortium led by Tata Consultancy Services Ltd has received an advance purchase order valued over Rs 15,000 crore from BSNL, a 100% Government of India owned public sector undertaking, for the deployment of a 4G network across India,” the IT behemoth said in a regulatory filing.
TCS shares traded in green in early trade on Monday.
The state-owned BSNL is currently providing 4G network in 26 states/circles on a limited scale. With the placement of the latest purchase order, it is set to cover the entire country with 4G services within 18-24 months.
BSNL had floated a tender for 1 lakh 4G sites in October 2022.
The public sector telecom company would launch 5G services after rollout of 4G services all over India.
“The spectrum in 600MHz, 3300 MHz and 26 GHz bands have been kept reserved for BSNL for providing 5G services. The 5G services by BSNL would be provided after roll out of 4G services all over India,” telecom minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had said earlier replying to a question in Lok Sabha.
