Hyderabad: The Government of Telangana has signed three landmark Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday evening.

These agreements encompass a massive pumped storage project, a battery energy storage system (BESS), and a luxury wellness resort, amounting to thousands of crores in investments and creating thousands of jobs.

In the first project, Telangana and MEIL have joined hands to develop a state-of-the-art 2,160 MW Pumped Storage Project. With an investment of Rs 11,000 crore, the project is expected to generate over 1,000 jobs during construction and 250 during operations.

This initiative represents a significant milestone in the state’s renewable energy and sustainable development goals.

The company also plans campus recruitment drives across Telangana to meet workforce demands, ensuring local employment opportunities.

In another key development, MEIL will invest Rs 3,000 crore to set up a 1,000 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at strategic locations across Telangana. The project will create 1,000 direct and 3,000 indirect jobs within two years.

The BESS initiative aims to enhance Telangana’s renewable energy infrastructure, ensuring efficient energy storage, grid stability, and improved peak load management.

The final MoU focuses on boosting Telangana’s tourism sector through the development of a luxury wellness resort at Ananthagiri. MEIL will invest Rs 1,000 crore in the project, which is set to create over 2,000 jobs during its construction and operational phases.

This resort aligns with the state’s vision of promoting sustainable tourism and economic growth, further enhancing Telangana’s reputation as an investment-friendly destination.

IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu welcomed MEIL’s investment decisions, highlighting Telangana’s proactive approach to attracting investment and fostering development in key sectors like renewable energy, tourism, and sustainability.

These MoUs symbolise a pivotal step in Telangana’s journey toward becoming a hub for innovation, sustainable development, and economic prosperity, according to an official statement.
