Srinagar: Security forces shot dead a local terrorist in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, police said on Tuesday.
A policeman was also injured in the initial exchange of fire.
Police said an encounter erupted at Hoowra Kulgam when joint teams of forces launched a cordon and search operation last night following an input about terrorist presence.
” In the initial exchange of fire, a policeman got injured. A local terrorist was neutralised during the gunfight, police said.
They said the identification and group affiliation of the slain is being established.
Police said incriminating materials including arms and ammunition was recovered from the encounter site.
” A search operation is going on,” they added.
