Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday met Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Binoy Kumar Saxena, seeking a plot of land for setting up the third Tripura Bhavan in Delhi to manage the daily crowd of the state in the national capital.

Dr Saha informed that the existing two Tripura Bhavans in Chanakyapuri area couldn’t cater to the demand of the people of the state who are mainly visiting Delhi for education, treatment, business, and transit purposes of travelling to national and international destinations; therefore, the state government has decided to build a new Bhavan likely to be in Dwarka area in Delhi.

“I had a detailed discussion with Lieutenant Governor Delhi about the land and other related issues, and he was very positive towards our demand. Hopefully, soon we shall proceed with a new Tripura Bhavan in Delhi,” Dr Saha said, adding that nowadays, a large number of people from the state go to Delhi but don’t get accommodation in Tripura Bhavans due to the non-availability of rooms.

The Tripura government has been in the process of building Tripura Bhavans in Mumbai and Chennai, mainly for the patients visiting the places for treatment. Besides Delhi, Tripura has four Bhavans in Kolkata and one in Guwahati at present, which cater to decent accommodation and food at a cheap rate for the people of the state.

The Chief Minister has also attended a conference on dam safety, and investors met in Jaipur on Friday during his three-day visit to Delhi. He also held meetings with Union Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, Skill Development, Electronics & Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Union Minister of State for Law & Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal on development projects in the state.
