Agartala: Tripura has registered 28.13 lakh voters in the final electoral rolls with 80,000 new entries published on Thursday, said Chief Electoral Officer Kiran Gitte here on Friday.

He said the final voters’ list has been made available in all 3328 polling stations across 60 assembly constituencies.

The figure for electorates was 27.33 lakh in the draft list but after Special Summary Revision, carried out across the state for around two months 80,000 voters have been enrolled finally after resolving all claims and objections from various political parties.

Gitte said there was an increase in the number of third-gender voters—from 46 to 77.

On the other, as many as 13,500 Brus have been included in the electoral roll who were settled in Tripura from camps in 12 locations following a quadripartite agreement.

They had been residing in the camps of Tripura for the last 25 years after being evicted from Western Mizoram due to a communal clash but their name was in Mizoram’s electoral roll.

He said the election commission has already set the motion for the assembly poll slated for next month, and the full bench of Election Commission of India (ECI) is likely to visit the state next week to review the preparation for holding elections.

As directed by ECI, Central Armed Paramilitary Force has already arrived in the state.

All necessary steps have been taken to ensure zero poll violence in a mission mode.

As many as 50 companies’ central forces have been deployed in the areas as part of confidence-building measures to ensure a free and fair election with a focus on ensuring. Another 50 companies will be made available by this week.
