Two killed, three of family missing after cloudburst in Sirmour

Shimla: Two people died and three members of a family are missing after a cloudburst last night at Dadiyat village of Malagi Gram Panchayat under Paontasahib Subdivision of Solan district of Himachal Pradesh, about 125 km away from here.

Deputy Commissioner Sirmour Sumit Khimta said that a cloudburst occurred at 2030 hrs on Wednesday in Malagi-Dadiyat. Due to the incident, five members of the Kamar family are missing in the debris.

DC said that the bodies of Kuldeep Singh (60), S/o Sh. Sant Ram, and Deepika (8), daughter of Vinod Kumar, have been recovered from the flood debris; however, Jeeto Devi (55), wife of Kuldeep, Rajni Devi (31) w/o Vinod Kumar, and Nitesh (10) son of Vinod Kumar, are still untraced.

DEOC said that there was apprehension that some other people were also missing.

Soon after the mishap, SDM Paonta Sahib, Tehsildar, and Naib Tehsildar were rushed to the spot. Rescue operations are continuously in progress. Police and HPPWD Department officials are on the spot to handle this situation.

Earthmovers and evacuators are being deployed to trace out the debris.
