Washington: The United States is launching a partnership with the video sharing platform YouTube to support its Global Music Diplomacy Initiative, the US State Department announced.

“US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken and YouTube’s Global Head of Music Lyor Cohen announced today a new Department of State-YouTube partnership in support of the Department’s Global Music Diplomacy Initiative, a worldwide effort to elevate music as a diplomatic platform to promote peace and democracy in support of the United States’ broader foreign policy goals,” the State Department said in a statement on Monday.

The State Department selected a new roster of Global Music Ambassadors, which include Herbie Hancock, Jelly Roll, Grace Bowers and Armani White, the statement said.

The State Department and YouTube will cooperate to enhance English language learning through music and across the YouTube platform, the statement added.

The State Department will also offer micro-grants to exchange program alumni worldwide who use music to expand access to education, economic opportunity, equity and inclusion, according to the statement.
