Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the Vivekanandar Illam (House) here, where Swami Vivekananda had lived, played an important role in his life.

Soon after entering the venue, the Prime Minister paid floral tributes to an idol of Swami Vivekananda.

Addressing the 125th anniversary celebrations of Sri Ramakrishna Math at Vivekanandar Illam (House) on the Marina beach front, after releasing a book, he paid pranams to Swami Vivekananda.

He said “Vivekanandar House played an important role in my life. This institution is celebrating it’s 125 years of service. This is another reason to my happiness,” he said.

“I love the vibe in Chennai. I love the language and people of Tamil Nadu”, the Prime Minister said, adding, the institution should spread Swami Vivekananda’s ideologies through modern technology.

Wishing great success to all efforts by Vivekanandar House to bring peace to the nation, Mr Modi said Swami Vivekananda had greater vision for India.

“Now, he would be happy for us working on the path. It’s every Indian’s time now,” he added.

Mr Modi said Mudhra Yojana is celebrating its 8th anniversary today. “TN’s small entreprenuers have made the state a leading one. Now, it is reaching everyone. Similarly, basic things like house, toilets and other facilities are also reaching everyone”, he added.

Stating that India believes in women development, the Prime Minister said “when women have the right society, they will help themselves… Be it sports or space.”
