WC : Rohit gives big hint on Gill’s playing chances against Pak

Ahmedabad: Giving a big update on Shubman Gill, Team India captain Rohit Sharma on Friday said 99 per cent he will play against Pakistan on Saturday.

“99 per cent he (Gill) will play. We’ll see tomorrow (Saturday) about that,” Rohit told reporters on the eve of the mega clash of the ICC Men’s World Cup.

Gill has reportedly been recovered from dengue and joined the Team India yesterday at Ahmedabad, and was seen doing batting practice in the nets today. If he is picked up for tomorrow’s match, it would be his debut in the World Cup.

Gill has missed the first two matches against Australia and Afghanistan due to illness. He has been in awesome form, scoring big in all formats of the game last year.

Gill has amassed 1,230 runs at an average of 72.35 and a strike rate of just above 105 in as many as 20 ODIs this year. He also smashed five hundreds and as many fifties, with 208 being his highest.
