33 arms laid down in Manipur, six nabbed

Imphal: In all 33 different types of weapons, various ammunition and other miscellaneous items were voluntarily surrendered by the public to officials of Churachandpur, Thoubal, Imphal East, Imphal West, and Bishnupur districts during the past 24 hours.

Police said on Wednesday that security forces detained one Janggoulun Haokip and three juveniles, all cadres of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA) from Bethel, Centre of Churachandpur town under Churachandpur-PS, Churachandpur District.

They were involved in extortion, drug business smuggling, and the smuggling and sale of weapons. From their possession, two pistols were recovered.

In another operation, Security Forces arrested two individuals from under Kumbi-PS, Bishnupur District, namely Romen Singh and Naresh Singh (32), along with one 9 mm pistol with one empty magazine.
