Once again, an increase in the activities of Assam’s banned insurgent group, United Liberation Front of Assam- Independent (ULFA-I), can be seen taking place. According to the inputs received by secret agencies, Assam’s ULFA separatists are being provided with arms by Pakistan’s secret agency, ISI, via Bangladesh.

Secret training camps to train the ULFA members are being operated in Bhutan and Myanmar. Indian agencies have found out about one of the camps situated in Myanmar. As per sources, the NIA has got to know of the activities of ULFA members in 7 districts of Assam. A case was registered regarding the matter back on 18th May, 2022.

Continuing its investigation, the NIA raided 16 locations across these 7 districts a few days back and recovered weapons supplied from Bangladesh and other important and sensitive documents. In order to achieve its goals, ULFA is recruiting new members now. The new youth are being guided in the camps of Myanmar and Bhutan by trained insurgents, with commando trainings.

In a recent report of the Home Ministry, it was revealed that ULFA is recruiting youth not only from Assam but also from Delhi-NCR and is training them. ULFA has admitted around 150 new members into the separatist organization in the last few months. ULFA is preparing for kidnappings and large-scale attacks on common people and army men. It was after this report that the investigation was handed over to the NIA.
