The students of the mechanical engineering branch of Engineering College Ajmer, Rajasthan, have developed a glass cleaning robot, with the help of which, dirty windshields of moving cars can be cleaned thoroughly. This device, which can be used in cars, jeeps and other big vehicles, works differently from the mainstream wipers.

The device can also be used to clean glass in showrooms, offices, and shops. This detachable device has been developed at a cost of 6000 Rs only, and the college has applied for the device’s patent. This robot has been developed by students of mechanical engineering, Bharti Singh, Lalit Yadav, Lokendra Singh Rathore, Mohammad Shakir, Nikhil Kumawat, and Nikhil Pathania, under the guidance of Assistant Professor Vinod Kumar Verma.

As per Professor Verma, the wipers which are used in vehicles are used to wipe out rain water from the windshields, but vehicle owners are also using the wipers to wipe off foreign elements like dirt, dust, and bird excreta. This leads to the deterioration of the wiper quality and the rubber used wears off, after which the windshield gets scratched and the visibility is adversely affected and this becomes a cause of road accidents many a times.

This problem is faced in most of the vehicles, but this new glass-cleaning robot will now help in getting rid of this issue. This device has brushes installed in the front and is operated using rotary-type motors. Once its job is done, the machine stops with the help of the sensors attached. The gadget can be operated from inside the car itself.
