NIA raids at Kerala PFI centres, several in custody

Malappuram(Kerala): In a major nationwide crackdown against the Popular Front of India (PFI), several activists of the outfit in Kerala were taken into custody by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday.

Nine PFI leaders in Kerala including its Chairman, Secretary and State President were taken into custody during the raids in multiple locations in the state.

Raids are being conducted at around 50 places in Kerala by the NIA with the support of Enforcement Directorate (ED) citing narco-terrorism activities.

The PFI activists staged a protest against the NIA raid at Manjeri in Malappuram district of Kerala. The PFI workers staged protest in front of the house of their Chairmain OMA Salam at Manjeri.

Raids were underway at the office of PFI Pathanamthitta District Secretary Mundu Kottakkal Sadiq and at the house of PFI leader Karamana Ashraf Moulavi at Poonthura in Thiruvananthapuram.
