In an effort to teach and inculcate a habit to preserve the environment, BJP spokesperson and leader in Velim, Savio Rodrigues, has announced the launch of a special comic book for children on the occasion Gandhi Jayanti. The book is focused on the environmental concerns plaguing the residents of Velim.

The comic book has been designed and conceptualised by Green Waves Environmental Solutions.

Speaking on the comic book, Rodrigues expressed, “Our children are our future preservers of our environment. We do not want to them to just sit and observe. We want them to participate in the mission for a Swachch Bharat – a clarion call by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. We wanted to use comics as a means of communication to share knowledge on environmental issues plaguing Velim, Goa and India with children.”

Commenting on the concept, Anil Chowdhari, MD, Green Waves Environment Solutions, expressed, “It is the first time a politician has approached us to work on a unique environmental messaging for children in a comic-book format. So we decided to create a comic character who battles the environmental concerns in the Velim constituency. Through the comic book we aim to educate children about the ecological concerns and teach them to be preservers and not observers.”

The comic book will be distributed to all schools in the Velim constituency and some schools in Goa and India. The book is expected to hit market next year in January 2023.
