While the violence taking place due to the Russia-Ukraine battle is currently the talk of the town, Britain’s secret agency has warned that not Russia, but China is the biggest danger during these times, and the country’s impact in new technologies like digital currency is increasing, and China can use this for controlling its people, neighbours, and its debtors.
UK’s secret agency, Government Communications Headquarters, commonly known as GCHQ’s Director, Sir Jeremy Fleming has said that China is occupied in strengthening itself in space, and in order to capture space, is making weapons like the ones shown in the Star War movies. China’s BeiDou satellite system can be used to track anyone, anytime. Warning, Fleming further stated that both Russia and China have anti-satellite weapons, which are like satellite missiles. But nowadays, China is working on a laser system, which can destroy communication, surveillance, and GPS satellites. If satellites get destroyed, missiles will not be able to track the target.
Fleming has also said that Chinese authorities believe that they derive their power from the one-party system, which means that rather than supporting the potential of their people, they want to control their population. He added that China is frightened of democracy and free-speech, and it is nothing shocking that when the people of China were working towards a developed economy, the party used its resources towards strict national security and surveillance.
In the meantime, in China, the presidential elections are all set to take place on 16th October, and it is being expected that Xi Jinping will enter his third tenure in a row, and will create history.
