Eye on election expenditure through e-catch: HP poll officer

Dharamsala: District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Nipun Jindal on Thursday inspected teams posted at the checkpoints in Palampur, Nagrota and Dharamsala constituencies.

The Deputy Commissioner directed officers and employees posted to work diligently. He asked them to immediately check any suspicious vehicle and report unauthorized cash, liquor and weapons to the concerned authorities.

He said that for better management of elections in Kangra district, the administration has prepared an innovative initiative e-Catch App (Kangra Application for Tracking Elections).

Jindal said that with the help of this app, arrangements have been made to make the working of various monitoring teams deployed in the field easier and more effective.

The app is also helpful in better coordination and monitoring among various election monitoring teams deployed across the district, he adeed.

He said that through the e-Catch app, the expenditure monitoring team can send the details of checking of vehicles and reports of seized goods on the spot.

Jindal conducted surprise inspection of various nakas in the district on Wednesday for effective implementation of model code of conduct in district Kangra during the assembly elections. He also took stock of the functioning of SST and flying teams that have important roles in conducting fair and peaceful elections.

Jindal also took stock of the first election rehearsal of the polling personnel organized in various assembly constituencies in the district.

He said that to implement the laws of model election code in district Kangra, Nakas have been set up by the Static Surveillance Teams.

He said that as per e-catch data, since the announcement of election, 1,801 nakas have been set up by SST and 33,685 vehicles have been checked. He is regularly surprise-inspecting these nakas.
