They said a gunfight broke out at Asthan Marg in Manzgam Kulgam during an anti-militancy operation.

“So far one terrorist has been killed,” a police official said, adding the operation is still underway.

The identity and the group affiliation of the slain could not be established immediately.

Meanwhile, a low intensity blast took place in Bandipora district of north Kashmir when an Army vehicle was passing through the area.

“The blast took place at Aloosa while Army’s vehicle was passing through the area. There was no loss of life reported in the incident,” a police spokesman said.

He said reinforcement has reached the spot and the area was being searched.
