Puri police arrest four, seize brown sugar worth Rs 1 crore

Puri: In a major drug haul in Puri in the recent past the police have arrested four persons, two of them hailing from West Bengal and seized 900 grams of brown sugar worth nearly Rs.1 crore from their possession.

Additional superintendent of police Mihir Kumar Panda said all the four persons were arrested on Monday and the police also seized nine mobiles and Rs.11,000 cash from them.

Panda said, acting on a tip that some persons outside the state are about to hand over drugs to local dealers, the Baselisahi police station officer raided the place, rounded them and recovered the contraband.

The police have registered a case under NDPS act and forwarded the accused to the SDJM court which refused their bail petitions and sent them to judicial custody.

The accused persons are identified as Hasan Ali and Ajijur Rehman both from West Bengal, Ajad

Ali of Taraboi, Khurdha district and Biplab Mullick of Machhgaon under Jagatsinghpur district
