Itanagar: As a follow-up action of ‘Namsai Declaration’ – an agreement inked on July 15 to solve the long-standing border dispute, the Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, Pema Khandu and Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Thursday held the CM-level meeting on inter-state border issues at Guwahati.

During the meeting, they deliberated on the progress achieved by the ‘Regional Committees’ jointly headed by Ministers in the two states, among other issues, official sources said on Friday.

Taking to Twitter, Arunachal CM Pema Khandu wrote: “It’s always a great delight to meet Assam CM Dr @himantabiswa ji. The Chief Ministers’ level meeting on ‘Assam-Arunachal Pradesh Border’ at Koinadhara will be a watershed moment in our collective resolve to address outstanding issues amicably.”

“I am certain that the two states would soon reach an agreement that would take care of sensitivities & aspirations of all,” the Assam CM stated in a tweet.

At the meeting, both the Chief Ministers were accompanied by high-level delegations, sources added.
