Kolkata: Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday boycotted the swearing-in-ceremony of new governor C V Ananda Bose on the ground that his allocated seat at Raj Bhavan was in between two legislators, who won on BJP tickets and switched over to ruling Trinamool Congress.

” I won’t be attending the ceremony as it’s not possible for me to take a seat next to such objectionable persons,” he said

“I’ve requested the Hon’ble Governor to kindly give me an appointment separately at any time according to his convenience. It’s fine even if he asks me to visit today,” the Nandigram MLA wrote on his social post.

Former bureaucrat and 1977 IAS of Kerala cadre CV Ananda Bose was sworn in as the governor of West Bengal in presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and some of her cabinet colleagues at Raj Bhavan.

” In an absolutely disgraceful instance of uncourteous politics; the LoP has been made to sit next to ‘soon to be disqualified’ MLAs Krishna Kalyani & Biswajit Das. Both got elected on BJP tickets & later defected to TMC, so Anti-Defection proceedings are going on against them,” Adhikari cited his reason why he did not attend the swearing in ceremony.

Adhikari, also posted two pictures separately of Krishna Kalyani and Biswajit Das on his social media showing the two legislators holding the TMC flag during joining in presence of then state commerce minister Partha Chatterjee. Chatterjee is now in judicial custody, arrested in alleged illegal recruitment of the teachers in the government aided schools.
