NIA arrests absconding accused in Arms case

Chennai: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested an absconding accused at Orathanad area in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu in a case realting to manufacture
of arms, ammunitions and explosives to carry out subversive activities.

In a release posted in its twitter handle, the NIA said three accused persons were manufacturing arms and ammunition by creating an outfit named World Tamil Justice Case (WTJC) inspired by the outlawed Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

The absconding accused, who was arrested yesterday was identified as Kabila.A alias Kabilan, a residence of Chinna Puthur near Kallankulathur near Omalur in Salem district of
the State.

The Arms case was registered in Omalur Police Station in Salem district.

After completion of investigations, the three accused were chargesheeted under Secs 102-B (Substantively), 121, 121A, 122 of IPC,ecs 18, 20, 38 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities
(Prevention) Act, 1967, 120-B of IPC read with Secs 25(1)(a) 25(1B)(a) of the Arms Act, 1959, and Sec 4 (a) of Explosives Substances Ac, 1908 on November 11 this year.

The case was initially registered at Omalur Police Station and re-registered by the NIA on July 25 this year at NIPA PS.New Delhi. A total of three accused persons have been arrested in this case so far and they have been charge sheeted.

Further investigations in the case are in progress.
