Nagpur: Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday said in the State legislative council that the central government should declare Karnataka-occupied Maharashtra area as union territory.
Speaking in the upper house on the boundary dispute between Maharashtra and Karnataka , Uddhav Thackeray said it is not mere a case of language and border but of humanity.
He said Karnataka Chief Minister is aggressive on border row while Maharashtra CM Shinde is silent. Until the Supreme Court decides Belagavi, Karwar and Nippani should be declared as a union territory, Thackeray said.
He further said this should be added in the proposal that is to be passed in the Assembly.
Meanwhile, outside the Vidhan Bhavan complex , the opposition dispensations held protest and raised slogans against Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde over the Karnataka-Maharashtra government border issues.
In the Assembly, Shiv Sena MLA Bhaskar Jadhav demanded that Maharashtra government must pass a strong resolution on border row.
